JADE Jasmine Rice
Jasmine rice (khao hom mali) is a special variety of aromatic rice grown in the northeastern part of Thailand called Esan. It is highly prized for its distinctive fragrance, toasty flavor, long grain, and smooth shiny finish. Because this favored variety flourishes only this small area of Thailand, it is the most expensive rice in the country. Although you can find jasmine-type rice grown in the United States, it pales in comparison to the Thai-grown original.
Once you taste Jasmine rice you’re find it surpasses regular long grain white rice in flavor and texture. The shiny white grains are delicious plain or paired with curries, stews, soups, and vegetables. The texture varies from firm to soft, depending on the amount of water used in cooking. The grains are separate but stick slightly to each other. Use jasmine rice in recipes that call for long grain rice for superior results.
It’s packaged in a glossy green bag that looks great in a gift basket.
